First Lace Project
Lace seems really complicated, especially if you try reading a pattern full of k2tog's, ssk's and yo's. Just what is a yo, anyway?
We will learn how to use k2tog, ssk and yo to create a beautiful lace scarf or shawl. At the same time, we will practice preventing, correcting and recovering from mistakes in lace.
Skills required:
Know how to knit and purl. Skills Learned:
Lace techniques including k2tog, ssk and yo; setting life-lines and fixing lace mistakes; reading lace charts. Materials needed:
360 yards of light- to medium- colored heavy fingering to dk-weight wool (such as Crystal Palace's Panda Silk DK); size US 7 needles (24" circular--or straights, if you must); stitch markers; chart reading helpers (post-it notes, etc); tapestry needle; and the pattern, "Quenington" by Fiber Dreams. Homework:
